Interview with N-Vitral about signing to Masters of Hardcore & the story behind “Start A Riot”

The good news that N-Vitral has joined the illustrious Masters of Hardcore label is out in the open! We’re thrilled to have this musical virtuoso on the team and we can assure you that some lethal bangers will be coming your way in the coming months– starting with his newest single “Start A Riot”, which comes out on October 13.

We had the honour to catch N-Vitral for a quick chat. Read all about his transition to Masters of Hardcore and what this means for him as an artist.

Thanks for taking the time to speak with us! First of all, congratulations on signing to Masters of Hardcore. Tell us, how does it feel to be a part of the MOH label?

It was a very warm welcome. I have been loosely working with the MOH crew for the last couple of years. I’m also already a part of MWDJ since 2018, so it’s a small step to take really.

What made you decide to make the switch over to Masters of Hardcore?

I reached a point where my artistic development wasn’t in sync anymore with the demand of The Third Movement fanbase. I felt forced to comply to a certain sound. Obviously I only make the music I want to make, and won’t comply or follow instructions when it comes to my tracks. So I kind of outgrew my position at TTM. I’m very happy and thankful to the entire TTM team. They have supported me all these years to the fullest. And they even supported the switch to MOH. So I have nothing but love and respect for the “nest” I grew up in creatively and artistically.

What is planned for N-Vitral now that you’ve joined Masters of Hardcore?

Obviously lots of new music! October marks my first official MOH solo release called “Start A Riot”. And a bit later on in the year we’re planning to release the already classic “I’m Nuclear”. And lots and lots more after that. We’re also working on new merchandise which
should drop soon!

Can you speak a little bit about your first release “Start A Riot”

I finished the track a week before the Corona/Covid-19 situation blew up in Europe. When the lockdown happened, I couldn’t help to feel a little relieved weirdly enough. I have been travelling the world almost every weekend for the last six years. In those years my personal life completely changed, and especially last year, because I became a father for the first time. I finally had heaps of time to play and interact with him and see him make his first steps and say his first words. Almost like a “normal” dad would have.

I also finally had time to properly sleep. I was struggling a bit with fatigue and sleep deprivation before Covid-19, because of all the travelling, late hours and long studio days. So the first two months felt like a (much needed) holiday. After those two months though, I started to feel a bit isolated and trapped. This feeling grew stronger when weeks passed. I missed the parties. I missed the loud music. I missed the long midnight drives to the club, the crowded backstages, the anonymous hotel rooms. I felt like my musical career was slowly eroding before my eyes. The N-Vitral project is a huge part of my life and identity. All these years, I worked so incredibly hard for my music to become a success, and then, all of a sudden, it seemed like it would fizzle out like a candle.

All these months of going through ups and downs mentally and emotionally, “Start A Riot” was laying on the shelf. I kept coming back to it, refining it bit by bit. It slowly became my lockdown anthem. I actually feel so much emotion in the track now. Lyrically but also sonically it shows how I personally feel about the entire situation. I felt pinned down, locked up, frustrated and angry, but also powerless and depressed.

For me, this is the story “Start A Riot” tells. It’s safe to say it has become a very important track for me. I think it represents everything N-Vitral is at the moment. It’s catchy, it’s lyrically engaging, it has an anthem feel with a big melody, it has darkness and sadness, but is also powerful, and obviously has crazy loud kickdrums. And a track like this, deserves a special treatment with a big videoclip, sick production and perfect home; which is the biggest hardcore label on earth, MOH.

Thanks to N-Vitral for taking the time to share more about signing to Masters of Hardcore. Be sure to stay up to date on our social media to catch the music video and release of “Start A Riot”.
