Interview with Broken Minds

With the news freshly out that Spaniards Broken Minds have joined the Masters of Hardcore label, we caught up with them to talk about this new journey, life in the beautiful Alicante in Spain and of course, upcoming projects!

Hey guys, thanks for this interview! First of all, how are you both doing these days?

During the “pandemic” we had time for ourselves, to think about our future as artists and as people, as well as meditate about our current society – which you can hear in our track “Humanity”. We’ve been still working so hard on music and released 1 track per month in 2020. Now we’re fucking bored of the politicians, of the “virus” and being locked up at home all day. We really want to travel, go sightseeing, get drunk, play our music, meet with our fans and return to a “normal” life.

We believe that a big welcome is in order. How does it feel to be a part of the Masters of Hardcore?

We feel motivated! It’s a great leap in our career and for a lot of hardcore producers, signing to MOH is a dream from the beginning. It means that we have reached the highest point of our goal, the end of a stage of effort, sacrifice and improvement. We embrace this new journey on the Masters of Hardcore label and people can expect melodies, innovation, experimentation, a bit of Frenchcore, industrial, psy and unlimited musical influences in our music!

How did you react to the news of being signed to the label?

We were very excited and we feel very happy to be part of MOH family, but to be honest, our happiness quickly turned into a sense of responsibility and motivation to keep working on new music.

Your first official release as a signed MOH artist is called “We Arrive”. Can you tell our readers a bit about the track?

Melodic track based on vintage retro sounds with the latest production quality. It brings a touch of euphoria that will make you feel Goosebumps throughout the whole track. After many years of learning, we reached the greatest musical perfection of our career and “We Arrive” signifies this stage of our career, with the vocals outlining our history in music and the different stages we went through.

So aside from “We Arrive”, you have both been working on lots of new music. What else is coming up for Broken Minds?

Many new tracks! Lots of different styles and influences, massive collabs with some of the best in Hardcore, Frenchcore and Raw and a new album as soon as the situation in this chaotic world becomes “normal”.

Your liveset at the MOH Top 100 was just stunning! What are your favourite things about your home town Alicante in Spain where you filmed that set?

Ufff good question! Alicante has very special and warm weather. We are coastal people and we have hot blood so what we like to do the most is enjoy the sun, the coast, the beach, relax in the coves, the weather, drink piña coladas, get drunk with our friends and eat pineapple pizza hehe, (Omar doesn’t like it). Whenever we go away we miss it; this is where we grew up and we wanted to represent it in our live-set.

What are some typical Spanish dishes that you’d recommend people to try?

Paella, tapas, jamón joselito, pincho de tortilla, rabas, restaurant “El Sento” you should try it, and the best Pizzerias in Alicante (La Espiga and Marco & Bo)… But only best places and best tastes. Rodri can make one of the best lentils haha.

You guys have been working hard for many years and have a ton of hits to your name. What’s the secret behind staying inspired?

As we say in our Hardcore academy: S.T.C, which stands for sacrifice, time, constancy. A lot of effort following our style, but also musically improving. We make sacrifices not only in music, but also in our personal life. A secret to being inspired is living in a place that makes you happy and having positive friendships. And above all, always daring to innovate.

And…what do you do when there’s no inspiration?

When we have no inspiration we simply disconnect for a few days from music, we relax and enjoy our surroundings, whether in summer or winter. Walking along the beach helps a lot.

Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words to say to our readers?

Yes! We would like to send a greeting to all the people who have supported us from the beginning, thanks to Mad Dog for having motivated us at a crucial moment and we don’t want to forget to tell our haters to get ready for our moment! Stay tuned for our new music!

Thanks Broken Minds, hopefully we see you around soon!

Thanks you for the interview, we hope everybody can break their mind with us on the dance floor soon!

Don’t forget to PRE-SAVE Broken Minds’ upcoming single “We Arrive”, which will be released March 1st on Masters of Hardcore.
